2019 was bountiful and busy, y’all!

Since the launch of Lawless in Spring 2018, we've been having the best time bringing our vision of vintage to YEG. 2019 brought more pop-ups, parties, photo shoots and collaborations, a music video and a few local features… plus HORSIES (see below: ranchlife)

ENJOY! our favourite moments from the past 365 ↓

CARPET BAG VINTAGE FASHION MARKET

Back in April we took part in the second instalment of Carpet Bag, hosted by our friend Susie Martin at Edmonton’s Sugar Swing Ballroom. We were amongst an all-star lineup of vintage vendors and the room was packed from start to finish. We look back on this event as a turning point in the #yegvintage scene, a collaborative venture we all hold so dearly.

HOME ON THE RANGE

In late August we joined a crew of creatives out in Parkland County to bask in Berta’s rural bliss and shoot fashion, of course. Stefan Legacy worked with Raven from Mode Models while we shot with our main cowgirl Mecca (+ styled both operations). Our gracious host Darcie (@theblackswanhairco) showed us her horses, cooked for us over a fire and let us rip on the golf carts. This is a life we could get used to.

Hair: Darcie Chapman
Make Up: Danielle Groome

THE HYPE YEG

In September, our friends at The Hype YEG paid us a visit at the OG Lawless warehouse (bonus highlight of the year - Dani bought a house and we now have an upgraded clubhouse!) to interview us for their online guide to art, culture, local business and all things hype in Edmonton. Read the full article and check out the other features!

This pretty much sums it up folks.

THE WARDROBE EXCHANGE

Later in September we joined in with nearly every second-hand vendor in the city for The Wardrobe Exchange at Epcor Tower. “From fashion addicts detoxing their personal closets and vintage enthusiasts showcasing their finds, to established boutiques clearing out stock (nothing full price!), The Wardrobe Exchange promotes sustainable fashion by championing communal thrift culture.”

MARLAENA MOORE ‘IMPOSTER’ VIDEO

In October all our wildest dreams came true when we styled and co-produced the music video for Marlaena Moore’s latest single, ‘Imposter’. 4 days, 4 characters and one. giant. mall. Stay tuned for an in-depth recount of this magical project - for now, some of our favourite BTS moments are featured below.

THE GLITTER SALOON

In October, our friends at Night Comfort hosted a Queer Cabaret Extravaganza at Chez Pierre’s. The Glitter Saloon lineup boasted an array of local singers, dancers, performers and visual artists - plus a curated rack from Lawless! Earlier this year, we collaborated with members of this crew to style a music video for L.A. Cop; it’s fantastic to see this unique venue being used for all sorts of events and projects.

POP UP SHOP!

In November we teamed up with Dita Marina Vintage, Lo. Artwork and Libertine Fragrance to ~finally~ host our own pop up! The event took place in the old Blunt Salon on Jasper Ave, which we transformed into our own storefront for one beautiful day. Thanks again to everyone who came by and filled our donation bin to the brim for the Old Strathcona Youth Society. ❤️

Well, there you have it y’all - 2020 is here for the taking and we’re jazzed to continue this vintage venture in YEG.

xo,

Lawless
