Earth Day Is Every Day

Like most young and broke fashionistas, we started digging at the local thrifts in our teens because it was a way to shop affordably and feel unique. Later in life we launched Lawless as an answer to the impact and detriment of fast fashion (while shopping affordably and feeling unique!)

Everything amazing has already been made. Secondhand is the way of the future and there's more than enough to go around.

Yes, alas, the thrifts are closed for the time being and we’re all on the #stayhome train, but here’s a few ways to stay connected with our likeminded community, reduce clothing waste and freshen up your closet in the process!

  • Engage with online businesses that are leading the way in Slow Fashion, hosting virtual events with tips and ways to swap/purchase exactly what you’re looking for. We’re looking at you, Life Preloved!

  • Organize a virtual swap of your own! Set up a video chat, grab your top ten swap items and invite your buds. Make a day of contactless deliveries and pickups to round up your new goodies in exchange for the old!

  • Dust off your sewing kit, hop on a tutorial and learn some basic mending! No time like the present to tackle that “to be saved” pile we all have.

  • Support a friend who has the afforementioned mending skills you may not possess and get them to rework a tired old piece of clothing into something you love!

  • Go on a closet rampage and get your donations ready for the day we ARE allowed to donate. Research the community organizations that need your help the most. We’re partial to the Old Strathcona Youth Society but there are tons of places that are in need, especially after this difficult time.

We can’t wait to get back to the hunt, pop-ups and swaps. Stay sane, stay safe, stay in touch (just not physically)!

xo,

Lawless
